I am often asked as a Divorce Mediator if mediation is cheaper if the parties work together. Mediation can be thousands and thousands of dollars, less expensive than going to court. You pay procession, also known as pay as you go. The parties split the cost and the parties work together. I advise clients as a Long Island Divorce Mediator that the sooner an agreement is reached, the less expensive it is. In court, you don't control the process, you don't control the time, and you certainly don't control the cost.
